How to make a mason jar bird feeder

I just found the easiest way to make a simply cute bird feeder.  Since I’m so impatient, I scrounge the internet for crafts that take less than half an hour to make.  Recently I found this simple one that I would like to share.  It only takes about 20 minutes to make, but the joy of watching the different species of birds flock to it lasts a life time.

 Materials:

  • Mason jar
  • Galvanized bird feeder
  • Pliers
  • Wire cutters
  • Gorilla glue
  • Wire ( 16 gauge will do)

step ONE:

Wrap a mason jar with a thick gauge of wire until it is secured around the jar.  Wind it down to the bottom of the jar and wrap the wire so that there is a loop at the bottom.

step TWO:

Drop a generous amount of gorilla glue onto to bottom of the jar just to make sure the wire is held to it. Let dry for an hour or two.

step THREE:

Once the glue has dried, it is time to fill it up with bird seed.  Don’t worry if you spill bird seed everywhere like I did.  It will just attract more birds.

Fill the whole jar with bird seed. You can now screw the galvanized bird feeder onto the jar.

Flip the jar so it is upside down and voilĂ  a beautiful bird feeder.
